Only Love

In shadows cast by bitter scorn,
Where hate’s sharp thorns are cruelly worn,
I choose a path of softer tread,
To leave the venom left unsaid.

Their words may sting, their glares may burn,
Yet in my heart, I’ll gently turn.
No mirror to reflect their spite,
I’ll hold my peace, embrace the light.

For hate returned is but a chain,
Binding the soul to endless pain.
I’ll break the cycle, set it free,
And let my spirit simply be.

With kindness as my quiet shield,
I’ll sow no malice in this field.
Though hate may knock, I’ll not invite,
But walk away, into the light.
